Case study
KMT
"Proxima has become an indispensable tool."

How we work together
Proxima has worked with KMT since May 2023.
KMT is structured into five hubs across the South East of England. KMT uses Proxima within four Intensive Training and Practice units, including units related to aspects of behaviour, scaffolding, questioning, and how pupils learn.
KMT staff also use Proxima beyond ITaP, including to revisit prior learning and as part of its mentor training programme and to provide targeted learning to trainees who need additional support.
How it’s gone so far
Polly Butterfield-Tracy, Head of KMT said:
“The Intensive Training and Practice component of the new Quality Requirements for ITT demanded a significant shift in our approach. As a large provider working with hundreds of trainees, we needed a scalable solution to provide low-stakes practice opportunities during each focused block. Proxima offered the perfect answer.
“By leveraging Proxima’s simulated environments, our trainees were able to rehearse and reflect on key teaching skills in a supportive setting. Receiving instant feedback from both programme leaders and peers, they gained valuable insights to refine their practice in the moment.
“Proxima has become an indispensable tool, extending far beyond the ITaP blocks. We now start central training sessions with Proxima scenarios to revisit prior learning, and assign asynchronous practice tasks to address specific needs for trainees needing additional support. Proxima has revolutionised our delivery, enabling us to meet the rigorous demands of the new Quality Requirements.”
What trainees say
Following an Intensive Training and Practice session focused on behaviour, trainees said:
“I loved Proxima – especially getting feedback from peers. It was so thought provoking!”
“Proxima was really, really helpful! It was challenging to reflect on the why of our behaviour, but felt really good to think hard.”
“Proxima was really good and made everyone get involved, including those of us who feel uncomfortable talking!”
